Sarah Cohen, Membership Director at Temple Chai,
was born and raised in
Birmingham, Alabama.
She attended the University of Georgia and received a Bachelor's
degree in Social Work.
Sarah moved to Los Angeles in order to pursue graduate
studies and received a Master's degree in Social Work from the
University of Southern California as well as a second Master's
degree in Jewish Communal Service at Hebrew Union College.
Sarah interned at
Stephen S. Wise during her graduate program, where she worked
primarily in the Membership and Program Department and was then
hired as the Director of Membership, The W Group Coordinator
(20s and 30s) and Volunteer Network Coordinator.
Her proudest accomplishment was accepting the Belin Award
from the Union for Reform Judaism November 2005 at the Houston
Biennial for her work with Stephen S. Wise Temple’s
20s and 30s programming.
Now, Sarah
works as the Membership Director of Temple Chai
in
Phoenix.
Sarah is focused on recruiting and integrating new members, and,
all the while, evaluating existing community-building programs,
creating new ones and working to retain our current membership.
Sarah is also working to build a strong 20s and 30s community as
well as increase the size of
Temple Chai’s donor base.
